It’s spring! The sun is shining and we wake from our winter slumber. We fling open the windows and let in the fresh air. And with that fresh air we feel a boost of motivation and drive to declutter and reorganize our homes. We take stock of our space and get to work.
The Messy Middle
But wait- what’s this? As we survey our space, reality sets in. The mess seems worse than before we started. The clutter seems insurmountable, and we’re drowning in chaos. Fear not, my friend; you’re not alone. Welcome to the messy middle—the point where things get worse before they get better.
Doubts and Determination
The messy middle is where the doubts creep in. “Oh my goodness! What was I thinking? This is an enormous mess, worse than when I started! What am I going to do? This is impossible. I will never get this done.” You might think about retreating back into your cozy winter hibernation.
The Secret
But here’s the secret - Keep going. Push through the piles, sort the jumbled drawers and tackle one small corner at a time. You will get it through it. The feeling of accomplishment when it is all done is worth every second of effort you put into it!
Celebrate
Don’t be discouraged by the messy middle. Celebrate progress, no matter how small. And if you find yourself frozen, overwhelmed by the chaos, sign up for the EverydayOrganized newsletter to receive tips and encouragement. If that doesn't seem like quite enough, get in touch, I'd be happy to help.
You’ve got this!
